Ever wondered how gamers record their screen while playing games? How about making a demo video for the end users or customers?

Here is my secret! Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) is a FREE screen recording software, that does not put their watermark on your recordings. I have tested out most screen recording software in the market, and OBS is the best I have found so far. So you don’t need to waste time finding and testing one that works!

To download: https://obsproject.com/

If you are restricted to download on your PC, please consult Teekay Helpdesk to use administrator rights.

How to use:

  1. Primarily, you will be using only Display Capture or Window Capture under “Sources” tab, after installation.
  2. Right click on the Sources tab, then select Display Capture or Window Capture.
  3. Start Recording
  4. Stop Recording
  5. The video file will be saved in C:\Users\yourPCname\Videos

Next: Now you have the video file, but unlikely it is in the format (.wmv) you can play with Windows Media Player or RealPlayer. You need to download Video Converter (download here – > https://www.any-video-converter.com/ ) and convert the video into desired format.

Lastly: Do you want to add music to your video or merge multiple videos? That calls for Movie Maker! Unfortunately, you can no longer find the old Window Movie Maker that used to come default with your Windows. Thus, you need to download Video Editor from your Microsoft Store.
